problem booting into Mandrake 10 install disk
Hi a newbie here needs help from linux gurus.
I currently have Fedora/WinXP dual boot set up on my Compaq S6000Z w/ AMD 3000+. I tried Mandrake 10 on another machine a couple weeks ago and really liked it, so now I have decided to ditch FC1 and install Mandrake on my main machine.
The problem is, my PC doesn't boot to the same Mandrake CD that I used to install on the old computer. I tried the WinXP and FC1 install disk and both worked fine. But when I insert the Mandrake install disk, it just skips the CD and goes to the normal GRUB screen. I tried disabling my hard drive in the boot option, then when booting I saw the familiar error "disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter".
What's causing my PC not to read a perfectly working boot disk? Well actually it reads the CD, but just doesn't recognize it as a boot disk.
Any kind of help will be greatly appreciated.
