Follow the directions on my sig to set up urpmi

Then

urpmi wizards webmin

Now two new things will appear in Mandrake.

1) The MCC will have a slew of new wizards which permit you to manage Web services including your FTP server

2) You will be able to start the webmin server

service webmin start
chkconfig --add webmin

and then bring up

https://localhost:10000

in your browser which gives you total configuration control over all of this stuff.

http://www.proftpd.org/docs/configs/basic.conf

that's just an example config. be sure to browse the proftpd website and take a peek at the user faq. proftpd is pretty simple to set up compared to a lot of the stuff out there. have a little patience and don't freak out!

good luck!

Eh, webmin walks you through setting up everything in a straight forward way.

Just click on each module in turn and set up what you need.

Then just restart the service.
