I have a Mandrake 9.1 system, with a Canon i550 usb printer.
For some reason now, I cannot print from any KDE app, such as Kwrite, or Kmail. I am not sure when this started, as I don't print from these apps very often, but I do know that it used to print from them.
I am using Turboprint as well. It seems to be something with the KDE print manager as I have no problems printing from OpenOffice.org or Mozilla. If I go to print from a KDE app, the dialog comes up, and if I just click print, it brings up a dialog saying it is initializing, but hangs the app. It will also hang if I try to click "properties" in the first dialog box.
Yes, I have it set to CUPS, and have the turboprint driver selected.
I have also tried deleting the printer, reinstalling, have tried reinstalling turboprint, still no luck.
In the printing manager under instances, their should be a single entry (default) make sure that is clicked and press test. Also check under properties, their should be an entry for users ( scroll down the box on the right as its usually the last entry ) and make sure the your on the allowed list.
The latest stable KDE is 3.1.5 although thats only come out in the last few days, you could try 3.1.4 and see if that helps. 1.85 is the latest turboprint.
