Printer port question
Right now my printer's "Connection Type" says "Prints into /dev/null"
Under my /dev/ there is no lp?
The printer port works as this PC just had Windows on it printing fine. The port is enabled in the BIOS, etc.
It seems that Linux is not "seeing" it. What must I do?
Thanks!

I did dmesg > results
searched for the word printer (case insesitive) and it does not exists.
The word port was there but it looks like it was associated with only serial and usb.

The word "Printer" will not appear in the dmesg output as Linux does not deal with the actual printer itself, merely the port.
The first printer port will appear as lp0, so search for it instead.

lp0 does exist in my /dev/ directory. I was looking for a folder but lp0 is a file.
Also, I fixed the original problem. There was a message box poping up asking if the printer was a multifunctional device and I kept answering no -- because it isn't. Well, just for the heck of it I answered yes and then the printer was recognized.
Thanks for your help!

Yeah the device name assignments were changed by the newer kernels.
