I have mandriva linux 2005 and when I am booting my computer ppp0 fails the checks when booting, and I cannot connect to the internet, how can I correct ppp0? I would appreciate the help. iI have sbc dsl with the speedstream 5100 modem. I have never beren able to connect using this operating system. I would appreciate the help

an xdsl modem is not usually ppp.
normally you would plug a dsl modem into an ethernet port... or a nat router.


This it?
If so - this is an ethernet modem. ppp0 (serial) fails because there is no device connected to it hmmm? You should be configuring eth0.
