powervr driver startup and permission issues

Hi all,

I have successfully found, downloaded, compiled and installed the powervr driver for my Kyro based Hercules graphics card. It works fine - for root. As I understand it, the last section of my XF86Config should take care of the permissions issue, but it doesn't.

I would like to know exactly which file I should chmod, in order to sort out this issue. When testing if it worked with glxgears, this was printed for root:

# glxgears
Loading required GL library /usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.so.1.2
BPP(16) DB(1N) W(304) H(300) Xclip(4) Yclip(0) PFD(8)
1466 frames in 5.0 seconds = 293.200 FPS
1727 frames in 5.0 seconds = 345.400 FPS

This for user:

$ glxgears
Loading required GL library /usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.so.1.2
libGL error: failed to open DRM: Operation not permitted
libGL error: reverting to (slow) indirect rendering
348 frames in 6.0 seconds = 58.000 FPS
320 frames in 6.0 seconds = 53.333 FPS

Do I chmod libGL.so.1.2, or DRM? If DRM, where do I find it?

The second part of my question is, how can I ensure powervr is loaded automatically? Do I have to edit modules.conf or what?

Heres hoping someone can help, cos I don't want to play enemy territory online as root.....

Thanks in advance.....

Jon
