Postfix Problem
 

After going through the agony of a clean 2008.1 install and migrating my mods and configs from 2007.1 I have a couple of problems left. The second is Postfix. While it appears to be running, it is not sending mail. Troubleshooting this is problematic because whatever is wrong is also preventing it from logging anything anywhere (/var/log/messages or /var/log/mail). What would keep Postfix from logging anything but yet still show it is running with 'postfix status'? Thanks.

I'd check /etc/syslog.conf first to see exactly where mail should get logged.

The other thing to try would be "postqueue -p" to see if you can get any hints.

How did you start postfix btw?

Thanks, that was it. Apparently the Mandriva installer for postfix did not add the appropriate entries in the config file. Installers under 2008.1 seem to have all kinds of problems like that. This wasn't the first and I guess I should have known better.
