I'm trying to setup a postfix server for email but i can't recieve any messages i can send them just fine but i can't recieve them. Also, how so you install pop and imap support. Any reply would be great, thax in advanced
You have to setup your postfix. You will see that if you do netstat -a |grep LISTEN | grep tcp there is a port localhost:smtp and this should be *:smtp. It means that you can only recieve e-mail from your own computer.
sugestions: read the manual how to configure postfix
in your config file (postconf) there is a line
mynetworks = 127.0.0.0/8
I think this should be something else, but I have no clue what
if you use sentmail, it works fine from the begining.
I've set up postfix and had no problems getting it receiving mail - it just worked after I had configured about 3 parameters. For POP3 I used vm-pop3d but I'm sure any other POP3 server would have worked too.
