poor sound quality MDK 10

Hello,

I'm experiencing poor sound quality when playing audio/video files such as MP3 in MDK 10 community. The volume is low and the sound hisses, like a radio receiving poor reception! I've turned up all the mixer settings to max in KMix; they have an effect but max is just way too quiet! I'm using an onboard Via 8235 chipset and appear to be using the right drivers. Music from my CD drive sounds loud and clear. I output the audio to my stereo amp so I can increase the volume there, but the crackles get amped too! I had no problems with the same hardware setup in RH9.

Thanks for any advice.

I sorted this by fiddling around further in KMix - in the output tab there is a slider with a mouseover called 'VIA DXS', it was on minimum and moving it up solved all problems.

Hey gurty,

many thx for ur post cause I had the same problem as you, looking in kmix I saw an optioin 'IEC958' was enabled, disabling it made my sound crispy clean :)
