Pico on Mandrake?
What do I need to get the Pico editor on Mandrake 10? Is there an RMP? Where do I go to get the sourfe o compile it? I'm not having the best of luck.
I want ot use Pico, mostally for nastalgia - its what I used back from 1996 to 2000 in college. :study:

Nano is a pico clone. You might want to check to see if you have rpms for that.

Pico comes as part of the Pine mail packages, as mirradric syas, nano is a clone of Pico and is available as a stand alone package.

I recommend using nano as suggested above. use rpmdrake to install.

Death to vim & emacs!

Pico is available via PLF pine rpms but as mentioned above nano is a clone of PICO and has some functions that PICO doesn't have.

I tried firing up rpmdrake and nano isn't found...

I tried doing a urpmi pine but it doesn't find anything... all I get is this:
urpmi pine The following packages contain pine:

What media do I have to add and where? Thats what I'm not understanding

I got it working.
Now, is there a way to get pine to use pop mail?

Nano should be in the contribs section of Mandrake RPM repositories.

Don't have to bother with RPMs. Nano will compile on Mandrake 10 (or any other Linux distro) from the latest source without any problems.

Grab the source files. Expand - then 'cd' to within the Nano folder and then do the following in the terminal

./configure (Return)

make (Return)

su (Return) - then enter root password (Return)

make install (Return)

No worries :)
