PCLinuxOS and Lucent Winmodem

Does anyone know if there is a repository of RPM format 'LTMODEM' packages suitable for the Mandrake derivative, PCLinuxOS?

I have successfully used ltmodem packages over the ages on my laptop, but have not been able to find ones compiled for a 2.6 kernel.

For reference, my kernel is '2.6.5-7.111.19-default'.

I am aware that I can roll my own, and will do so if there are no suitable sites.

Thanks in advance.

Here is a site that has links for LTModem drivers.

Winmodems are really hard to get working under Linux, because they don't have their own controller chip, and so they need drivers. However, just about any external modem can be made to work.

1. Install kernel source with Synaptic

2. Download the latest driver version (ltmodem-2.6-alk-6.tar.bz2 as of now) from:

3. Uncompress the driver package

4. Follow the instructions in README file

5. Add ltserial to modprobe.preload (not sure about that as lsmod did not list ltserial loaded after reboot...)

6. Launch KPPP, configured account and modem and dialed to the provider. You have to disable your ethernet adapter with "ifdown eth0" before starting ppp connection.
