Installed from download CD's - when you come to root password, I checked advanced and opted for using winbind.

Then when booting root password don't work - had to remove it and run with no password.

Did the few commands to make winbind work. All windows passwords work fine.

But the mandrakes own passwords don't work - that is when you log in, it says wrong password - then when you give the same password a second time it accepts.

It is just that when you su or need to type root password when going into configuration then there is no second time.

I have tried to search info about this error and shadow passwords and winbind but found no hints.

As mentioned winbind part works just fine
