One of the following packages is needed. WHICH ONE?

Just recently installed Mandriva One 2010.0 on a build, duel booting with Win XP Pro.
I will get messages saying updates are ready and when I go into the software manager, I get a list of packages in which says you must pick one. Well when I click the radio button and select OK, the window pops back up. I have to hit OK sometimes 20+ times. The below picture shows what I am seeing on my screen.
Thanks ahead of time for any and all help. So far I can say. I LOVE MANDRIVA LINUX and really would not go back to Windows for anything if I did not have work that required it. :)
One thing I forgot to mention. If I scroll left there is an info button on each of these packages. Selecting it show a window that states No information provided.

Those are localized language KDE packages. If your picking the right one for your language and it's not installing, not sure what the problem is. Are there any error messages on the screen after you try to install one?

bsdunix, that you for your quick response. No errors, it just eventually starts loading after about 20 + attempts at hitting OK. Good thing is though, every time I hit OK, the package at the top that is default selected changes so I am attempting multiple packages with each selection of the OK button.

I have received some errors when trying to update certain updates where it says Update failed due to 1 package not being installed. Don't quote me as I am not at home at the moment. :)

If you don't need any localized language support, you don't have to install any. Not sure why it would keep prompting you if you don't need it or never selected it.

Something has to be wrong. In the attached pic of my desktop (added before but adding again so you don’t have to go looking for it) You will see where I am prompted to update these localized language KDE packages. And as mentioned before, it does not matter which one I pick, after 2 seconds of hitting OK, it comes right back with the status bar behind it not moving. I will hit “Enter” close to 20 times, sometimes more, picking a different one by default each time. Eventually the box goes away, the status bar completes and I am told by another window that essentially the update failed.
Now this happens even if I go to the RPMDrake to select software to DL. I attempted to DL Sudo and Ndiswrapper. Both times, the box popped up stating I had to choose one of these localized language KDE packages, I go through the same cycle and neither software is downloaded because of an error.
Then to make matters worse, when I close Software Management, re-open and type in either Sudo or Ndiswrapper or any piece of software I attempted before to DL, it says it can’t be found.
Yes I am new to Linux, could this be a result of something stupid I did on my end, maybe so, but outside of reloading the program and starting from scratch, I am at a loss.
Any and all help is MOST appreciated!!

i thinks your update scoures are failing.
clear the list of update scoures and add new ones.(i ve made it sound hard its not)
clear your updates and go to easy urpmi and add theres add pfl souces as well

mecelec415, thank you for the reply. I followed your directions and it looks like the issue with the KDE Language packages is taken care of. I did receive a couple of errors but when I went back to the configure media sources for install and update, it looked like everything was back.
I was also able to install Sudo and ndiswrapper so I will be taking a look at what I can do with Sudo as well as seeing if ndiswrapper allows me to use my windows driver for my wireless card.

The errors I got while updating the Official as well as PLF medias are shown below in the screenshot. Not sure if they are important or not and I am not seeing so far where anything is acting strange.

Hi, don't worry about debug packages unless you wish to work on the sources and report bugs.

These are dev tools.

These language packages may sometimes get hungup when the server is being updated.

Thanks for the reply Glenn, appears as if the PLF packages will not update. Keep getting the error message:
Going to try to clear my mirror cache and try again. Between work and having to be out of town, hopefully I can jump back on this rig this evening.
Got this link the other day. Great for the new user who is wondering what would be the best packages to install. It's for a GNOME rig, but would assume the same packages would work in KDE. http://www.howtoforge.com/the-perfec...ing-with-gnome

Plf packages do not change very often.

The plf package may be available as mdv packages, just check them too.

Plf packages generally deal with software that does not fit within the GNU parameters.

Might not be worth concerning about (it).

ON TOPIC = The error message suggests that the (old file) /etc/urpmi/media.cfg is not recognised.

IMHO, you can't add to a file you can't edit.....

Maybe a permission thing, not sure...

What I started to want to say....was,

if you use the --force flag eith rpm or urpmi, it should override the dependent packages, then you may be able to upgrade off that install basis.

Thank you for the additional guidance. Upon clearing my mirror cache, purging all my packages and going back to Easy URPMI, I was able to install both the official and the PLF packages with no further issues.
Not sure what happened the first go around, but sometimes you have to do things more than once for them to work. :)
