nvidia success
 

Ok after reading all the isues with installing the nvidia drivers, I went a tryed it this morning and IT WORKS!! Just installes the kernel source, edited xfconf and checked xorg. I didn't think that nvidia would put out an unworkable driver, but you never know. I do wonder why everyone seems to be having issues though. Just go through it step by step and It will work. I even set it up on a different machine just to be sure. While I was at it I dissabled IPv6 in /etc/modprobe.conf and did the firefox tweaks. All in all a successfull morning, got my 3d running and solved the dns delay. this thing rocks now!!

Yeah, but I had to add "nvidia" to the modules.preload file before it would work on bootup. Other than that, it works nicely :)

hmmm I checked that and for some reason I have not had to do that. Have rebooted several times to check it and it loads, modprobe shows nvidia, it seems that this driver works differently on some systems, I don't know
