No bas package error - spring 2007 x64

Hi..

I have used Mandrake / Mandrivia in the past, and am trying to upgrade my system. I have 2006 on my computer, but it will no longer boot (I get the kernal panic error).

I had to upgrade my pc from the orginal install... I now have a Foxconn motherboard, AMD Athalon 64 X2 3600 processor. I don't think the hardware is the problem...

When I try to install Spring 2007, x86-64 it goes about halfway.... it then stops with the error "no base package selection." I have tried selecting the individual packages, just doing the general installs (by selecting 'network computer' and such), tried allowing the system to attach to a mirror site to get updates but still have the same error.

The system is a dual boot with windows xp. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Hi GaryVass, welcome to LQ.

The 2006 install may have been fixed by using the repair option or upgrading to the same version,

upgrading to the same version will give you the opportunity to reconfigure your system.

I would check the 2007 cd and iso that it was burnt from.

Md5sum check the iso to be sure that all of the contents are there.

Then you could make sure the cd has all the stuff that is supposed to be on there.

see how you go, Glenn
