New to Linux - question on installing VGA driver
 
Hello... I just made the switch to Linux (Mandrake 9.2) and I have a few questions to ask, hopefully someone can help me.

I'm trying to install a VGA driver for my Ti-4200 from nVidia.
(Linux Display Driver - IA32)

*Notice the "_ia32_" in the URL, I'm guessing this is for 32 bit processors like my Northwood, am I at the right setup page?

Anyway, I install the driver on a username in the Documents directory and do as the directions say. Everything is dandy until I try to type "sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4496-pkg2.run". It says basically "file/directory not found". I've typed it exactly as it is given, and copied and pasted... I tried doing the same thing in root. Anyone have a answer for my problem?

well d00d all i can say is the computer is not wrong, only the end user...it will never tell you that file is not found if you are typing it exactly, if it is really there ..
so either
a) your in the wrong directory
b) it doesn't exist
c) you did in fact type it wrong..
and you will have to be root to install it, so don't bother as normal user....and yes your correct in getting the ia32 driver unless you have a 64 bit processor...

but with what i said aside, there is one thing i don't understand in your post, cause you say...

just how you typed this, your saying you did in fact install it and followed the directions, but then you say you typed "sh NVIDIA-Linux.x.x.x.x.run" and it says file not found, and thats why i wrote what i did write above...
so if you did actually install it already, and your having some other type of problem, then clearify better what it is, and if you were actually only trying to say file not found, then what i wrote above still stands...
