New install boots to blank screen
Hi. I am a total Linux newbie. I figured I would give Linux a try yesterday. Mandrake 9.2 was reccomended so I went out and downloaded the ISO files and made CDs to install with. I have tried to install it twice today on 2 different computers and get the same problem each time. I go through the entire setup and install process fine but when I do the final reboot it comes up as a blank screen. Nothing at all on the screen. I have no idea what to do . Please help me. Thanks.

First off, congratulations, you just intalled Linux (without a gui, but it's installed). Now you need to configure your X server. Since you are at a command prompt I would suggest you start by typing the following:
man xf86config And read through that before attempting to edit the file on your own. rberry88 |
in root type in "XFdrake" without the quotes. this will help you setup the graphics.
