Network intsall problem

I have a very old Toshiba laptop and I am trying to put Mandrake 10 Community on it. The CD ROM no longer works so I have set up Serv-U on an XP box and dumped the CD ROM's on it.

If I make the new 2.6 kernel network floppies it all works till it gets to a point that it is looking for firewire devices etc inside the installation programme and as they dont exist. I just grind to a halt there.

I thought I would try the alternative 2.4 network disks and that starts to work, but just after accepting the agreement it comes up with the followwing:

"Cant access kernel modules corresponding to your kernel (file /lib/". Then it goes on about the floppy being out of sync etc.

That file is in fact intact on the server and I have tried everything I can to get it to find the file??

Can anyone shed any light on what to do, or is there anyway with the 2.6 load that you can get the install programme to ignore the missing devices etc and go ahead with the intsallation??
