Network Adaptor problem Mandrake10
Hi all,
I hope that you can help.
System: Sony Vaio PCG-F807
Distro: Mandrake 10 official
PCMCIA NIC: NetGear FA4411 FastEthernet
After installing Mandrake 10 I have had various network problems. Initially my NIC would only work on every other boot. The ‘checking for new devices….’ bit on start-up would at first claim that my card was detected, and on the following boot claim that it had been removed. I could not get the device to work at all on the latter, and there was no ethernet device displayed under: DrakConf->hardware->ethernetcard (where it appeared when the detection worked (using the pcnet_cs module, btw)).
I tried to configure the network device with various options in an attempt to solve this one, but now the device doesn’t work, ever. It always appears under DrakConf->hardware->ethernetcard (even when removed), but I cant configure a connection. When I try to remove the connection, it tells me that ‘no ethernet adaptor has been detected on my system’.
As you can probably tell I’m new to linux, please help!
