Need Mouse driver

I just installed Mandrake 9.2 and have a severe mouse problem (10-20 second lag). I have a Microsoft serial mouse which is not one of the config selections. The generic 2 button mouse gives me this lag problem. Can anyone tell me where I can find a driver for this mouse. TIA.

Thanks for the reply. Interesting you should ask. This a bit of a puzzle for me. There is no driver and if I try to specify one I get a fatal error on teh 'Driver' entry when I run startx. Here is what the config file currently has:

Section "Pointer"
Protocol "Standard"
Device "/dev/mouse"
Emulate3Buttons
Emulate3Timeout 50
End Section

In trying to make something happen I made some changes. The parameters I changed originally were:

Protocol "Microsoft"
Device "/dev/stty0"

Here's my XF86config's on the mouse:

# **********************************************************************
# Core Pointer's InputDevice section
# **********************************************************************

Section "InputDevice"

# Identifier and driver

Identifier "Mouse1"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
# Mouse-speed setting for PS/2 mouse.

Option "Resolution" "256"

Sorry, i could have misled you, it's IMPS/2 protocol, not driver. You can try to imitate this section of my xf86config. MDK's XF86config could be named as XF86Config-4 or something different, find it.

Thanks again for the reply. I don't have a section like that in my config. Is this in addition to or instead of the "Pointer" section I have.

Why didn't the install process create this section?

I made a guess, instead of. It turns out to be academic. "InputDevice" is not a recognized section name.

I'm confused. Why doesn't my XFConfig86 look like or behave like the what I have been reading? The above is a good example. The suggestion made by newinlinux gets an recognized section error.

I've scoured the web for XF86Config help with my mouse problem but all the things I've found result in that same or a similar error.

Doesn't anyone have a Microsoft serial mouse that works with 9.2?

sorry to hear that. i used slackware and just started off with gentoo, both uses the text book style of xf86config, so references found in the web is applicable. you got to check out with the folks that uses mdk then.

i know it's meaningless to talk about this now, but i you ever wanted to try out other distro, try Slackware, quite an minimalistic but interesting distro.

Good luck.
