Need Help with positioning ICON on KDE3

Hello all.
This is Michaela from Germany.
I have following Problem with my KDE3:
I like to place the Icons where i want to have it.
This works also for the moment.
But if i do something, like mounting a CDROM, which is located on the Desktop with a ICON, KDE place it on a fully different place.

How can i solve this Problem to make ICONs at a fixed postion on the screen?

Thank for your help in advance

Michaela

I think you would right click on the desktop some where

choose "icons"
*********** side menu appears
choose "align to grid"

Hi...
Thanks for answer. But this will work until i do some like described before... The Icons placed somewhere in Order to KDE3 like to have it..
But i do not like as KDE3 will have it.
That is all.

The question is: How can i prevent that KDE move ICONs?
I tried to make the $HOME/Desktop readonly. But this trick do not work.

I know this is a very smal problem and just under the cosmetics:-)
But it would be nice to solve problems like this kind also.

I remember: :study: the book... I did it quite well. There is no answer:-)

In Redhat 8.0, this was caused, for me, by the option under Preferences-->Look and Feel-->Desktop having the option
'Align Icons Veritically on the Desktop' turned on. I could, like you, place it anywhere, but once it 'remembered to re-align them', poof, back where
I didn't want it. Search through Desktop and Icon preferences, there is an option there that is causing it.
