Want to make a internet install, I dont have alot of cd's.

With any install, you will be given the opportunity to choose your desktop environment (KDE). If you want to do an Internet install and are running 64-bit, you want the "Mandriva Free 2007 Mini for i586 and x86_64" distribution. You need to use BitTorrent, KTorrent, etc. to get the iso, which is 700MB and as small as it gets for Mandriva. Here is the link to the page: http://www.mandriva.com/en/download/free
You want the last link before it starts listing countries.
But how about the non-free driver for my ati card. I have never managed to get the 3d acceleration to work under linux, I'm hoping mandriva will solve that.

By "the non-free driver," do you mean a proprietary driver? I think it is between you and ATI regarding all their proprietary drivers. Still, I am running an ATI card on this machine (I think it is an 8500, but it has been years since I installed it and I forgot what it is), and Mandriva comes with three drivers for ATI. It seems to run fine with both 2D desktop and 3D applications (like Torcs).
Ok, I've tried to install it several times but the installation is so unstable, it freezes in the middle of the installation and I always get some messages saying something like can't find manditory mandi-ifw file and acpid. And sometimes it wont even start.
After that I decided to try the "one cd", the live cd. But it's just as unstable, it also freezes and sometimes during the installation and the screen just goes black after a while. Seriously mandriva sucks so far but I really want to give it a try, I just want to get it installed!
I'm now trying to do an ftp installation, but I don't know a adress to a server, and the directory within the server. need help..
I do ftp installations using ftp.proxad.net here. You need x86-64 support, and I use a 32 bit CPU, so I will provide paths to the x86-64 mirror rather than the i586 mirror I use. I get the boot.iso image from the images directory on the mirror (ftp://ftp.proxad.net/mirrors/ftp.man...install/images) and burn it to CD. I boot from the CD, then follow the prompts for ftp installation. You will be presented with a list of available mirrors from which to do the installation. Choose one near your geographical location. If you are not presented with this list, you can enter (ftp.proxad.net) for the ftp server, and (/mirrors/ftp.mandriva.com/MandrivaLinux/official/2007.0/x86_64/) for the path to the mirror. The ftp installation is still Mandriva Linux Free, so you may not have any better luck than with Mandriva One. If you need more complete step by step direction, post here again, and I will try to be more specific.
About the issues with the Install CD's. Did you check the md5sum for each .iso file? You can get a list of the correct md5sum's from the mirror where you got the images, and you can get a windows utility to check the md5sum's from etree (http://etree.org/md5com.html), or google md5sum for additional links.
Is it possible you burned the images at to high a speed? This can result in data corruption. I usually try to burn CD's or CD-RW's at about one half the rated speed for the disk, but no faster than one half the rated speed of my burner. I always get good burns, and (so far) never have to do it again.
