Mouse wheel settings in KDE 3.2

In failing to get KDE 3.3 installed (a few times - that's a different thread though) I have reverted to KDE 3.2 which was installed in a different dir. None of my old setup was touched EXCEPT possibly my settings files in my home dir.

After reverting back to KDE 3.2, my mouse wheel no longer scrolls pages, in any aps, KDE or non-kde. The push button on the scroll still works however.

I've searched trying to find the file that controls the wheel behavior, but all I could find was the XFree86-config file, which looks normal.

Has anyone experianced this, or have an idea of how I might fix this problem?

Make sure the following is in your /etc/X11/XF86config file:

Section "InputDevice"

Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"

You can edit this file with your favorite editor.

You can also check to make sure that your mouse hardware is set up properly in the hardware config. section of the control center.

I've have done both of the above. Mine was originaly:

Option "ZAxisMapping" "6 7"

and I changed it to 4 5, but to no avail. As for the hardware manager, the only option pertaining to the mouse wheel is the one which lets you choose how many lines to scroll per click. I've changed it from 3 to 5 and back to 3, again with no results.
