Mouse stop responding in installation (M 9.2)

Hi,

Right after choosing my mouse in the installation process, the mouse stop responding. It works fine before. I'm using an intellimouse explorer 3 from microsoft connected with usb. I tried the Microsoft Explorer setting and the wheel mouse and it does the same thing.

Do you know what's wrong and what can I do to make it work ? I don't want to use the ps2 adaptor.

Thanks
Bye

Did you stop the install or let it carry on? I think the mouse does stop responding at some point but comes back.

I had mouse problems in 9.2 also

Here is how I solved my mouse locking up in 9.2. It is so simple it is laughable. I disconnected it from the USB port and connected it up using the PS2 adapter. I had the mouse and basically the whole X session during setup and regular use lock up with the mouse in the USB port. I looked everywhere for simular issues that others had experienced with that situation and was without luck so I went with the K.I.S.S phylosophy. That was the simplest I could think and well it was the solution. It took all of 30seconds to implement if that and I haven't had the problem since.

rrsc16954: I did stop the installation.

jchance: If mandrake 9.2 doesn't support usb mouse, what is it good for ?

jchance 11-18-2003 03:33 PM

It supports them but it didn't like mine

I have ran a USB mouse on my firewall for a while with no issues. It is an older PII system with ver1 USB ports. This system here has USB 2 plus due to onboard and additional USB from a PCI card it runs 2 USB drivers and I think it made for a quirky USB cluster f**k with the mouse. All of my other usb peripherals work fine. That was my quick and dirty solution to the same problem.

I tried to carry on with the installation even if the mouse wasn't working after choosing it. I found it that the installation was slowed down right after that step and between steps. It seems like the installation is trying to find my mouse or something and it hangs for 5 to 10 minutes between each steps. It was a great waste of time. I finally stop everything and rolled back to the good Windows tm.

I was expecting an error message like: "Sorry, you have to wait and wait because we do not support your microsoft usb mouse. You shouldn't have lost your PS2 adaptor. Try again in 10 years when usb mouse will be supported. Thanks for trying to install Mandrake."

What a pessimist and quitter

If you would give this post time to run the course for a couple of days you might just get a solution other then my quick and dirty one that worked for me. Attitude will not get you help out here any quicker. Did you search google for another possible solution. Probably not I bet. Instead of giving attitude because with my suggestion you needed the PS2 adapter and lost it, not my fault mind you. That don't mean you have to cop an attitude.
Want it fixed search the web yourself. Ever heard the addage if you want a job done right do it yourself.

Well after saying that I took the time to do a search out of my busy schedule. Here is just one example I found on google that might help.

Sorry for my attitude but I don't appreciate that type of smart ass sarcastic reply you gave due to not liking my suggestion. Word of advise try looking on google and put time in yourself besides relying on others out here. The rest of the community is a good resource in formats such as this site but the only way you are going to learn is by taking the time to search online yourself and implement the solution.

I did search on google. I even found someone having the same problem as me but there was no answers. I updated my bios and I tried every combination of usb setting in my bios. Nothing works. It may be because I'm using a A7V266-E motherboard with KT266A chipset.

If you have any tips on this, let me know.
