Mouse Not Working - Another Solution

Have seen a number of posts / references to mice (PS2 / USB) not working on boot after a Mandrake 10.1 install. Make sure the "udev" service is set to come up on boot. If this is disabled, the mouse won't work no matter what modifications you make to the xorg file / play with settings via harddrake, etc.

My mouse problem was nothing to do with udev - it was enabled. What happened with me was that harddrake reconfigured the mouse when I booted, so every second boot the mouse was frozen. I have disabled harddrake on boot.

Sorry it does not work. I ran mouseconfig as su. After a couple of console error messages about Module serial not found, it launches mousedrake. Even if I configure the mouse with mousedrake, the old problem of harddrake interfering during boot will arise - requiring a second boot.
