Mouse not recognised after reboot

I have just installed 10.1 but the USB mouse was not recognised. I tried running harddrake2 but no mouse detected. I tried again after plugging in a PS2 mouse and this time harddrake2 saw the PS2 mouse and both started working.

After a reboot I am back to square1 - no mouse recognised even when the PS2 mouse is also plugged in.

Any ideas?

Open mandrake control center, select "hardware | mouse | usb | wheel " then ok.
That'll select the usb mouse as default.

Sorry, that doesn't work. The entry in XF86Config is the same before and after.

The entry in XF86Config has:

Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"

/dev/mouse links to usbmouse which in turn links to input/mice

Is this correct?

For anyone interested, I had selected a Higher security level on installation. Apparently, this disables udev. It can be enabled by entering

chkconfig --add udev

when logged in as root.

After a restart, everything is fine.
