You can run /usr/sbin/mousedrake to verify that mandrake identified
your mouse correctly.
You can also check to see if the device files are setup correctly. If you're
using a PS/2 mouse you should have a character device with major
number 10 and minor 1 named /dev/psaux. And mandrake likes to
create the symlink /dev/mouse to /dev/psaux.
I have had some mouse problems too, so maybe someone else can
provide some better info.
In Slackware, I was used to restarting gpm to get the mouse to function
correctly. I don't know if Mandriva has something similar...
