Mouse cursor disappearing!
Hi!
I'm quite newbie on linux (used it about a month now), and totally fresh to this forum. Just been here a few times before, and found easy answers to my questions in earlier threads.
Now I have a question I haven't found any answer to, been searching a lot in many different forums.
I have installed Mandrakelinux 10.1 on my computer, and i works all fine!!
But then I installed (with the same CD's) it on my family's computer. Here ALMOST everything works fine.
Just one very irritating problem:
When i move my mouse to the corner of windows, over links, over icons, and so on, the cursor disappears!!! I have tried different cursor themes, And I even reinstalled mandrake.
I would appreciate any help I could get.
If You need more info about my computer or system, just ask! But please tell me also how to find this information, While I'm not so into linux.
Thanks!
Boy in Norway. (c.-ek)

seems quit odd... let's try this...
open up /etc/X11/XF86Config or /etc/X11/xorg.conf depending on which version of X mandrake now ships with. in there find the "Device" section. In there add a line that says
Code:
Option "SWCursor" "on"
This will pull the cursor rendering back from the hardware into software, which is normally reliable, although has a (pretty theoretical) overhead. if this has no effect, then it's not going to be at that lower level, inwhich case i'd look at KDE or Gnome or whatever DE you are using.

Thanks for helping, but didn't work
BTW, in /etc/X11/ I found both xorg.conf and XF86Config. Changed xorg.conf
On this computer I'm only running KDE 3.2
Know this problem sounds odd, but it's really irritating! And haven't found anyone with kind of same problem yet.
If you could guess of anything else that could help, please let me know.
Thanks

Serious problem when running CrossOver
Yet this problem becomes more than annoying..
I have installed Codeweawers Crossover office (to run M# Office and Photoshop)
Yet the cursor is invisible all the time! When inside Crossover windows..
I'm trying to make my family like linux, but unfortunately it hasn't been too successfully... Hope I find a way to solve this problem, before they want WinXP back..

Yet I have tried reinstalling Mandrake (again), but now also with the GNOME graphical interface. here the mouse cursor isn't disappearing/invisible.
I like KDE most, and would like to run it, but I can live with running GNOME.
Although, I think It's kind of odd, my problem with the mouse cursor. If anyone has a Idea, please let me know.
Thanks

YES! I have worked it out.
Thanks to acid_kewpie, for leading me on right track.. When I understood it could be something with my Graphic card, I checked it, and found it was 16MB and not 32MB..
once again I reinstalled(updated) mandrake, and configured my graphic card right.
Now It works!!! =)
Thanks for helping
(good I´m a newbie, and have that excuse )
