Monitor shuts off with Mandrake 9.2/GeForce 3

Weird stuff:
I can install Mandrake ( ISO ) 9.0 no problem on my p4/512/nVidia GeForce 3 64mb no problem. However, my monitor shuts off if I try and boot Knoppix, Mandrake Move or have installed Mandrake 9.1 or 9.2. Simply put, I cannot install Mandrake 9.1 or 9.2 for this reason. They install OK. They boot up but, after setup completes and is headed for the login screen, my monitor ( NEC FP-1375x) shuts off ( power saves off as if my 15 minutes to shut down monitor if not used ). BTW, changing this in Windows does not help.
I would LOVE to run 9.2 though. Any help appreciated. I would classify myself as a newbie too. Thanks, bebop

I think this is a known issue with geforce 3 cards. Since nvidia does provide linux support, I'd start with checking their site and contacting their support.

I believe you have to disable an option in the xf86config
