Im now running mandrake 9.2 and am having trouble getting X configured successfully for use on my television. I think the problem is with my video card, an ATI Radeon 7500 (AGP 64mbddr), but was using the card successfully in Win2k with same hardware. The purpose of this computer is to play dvds, cds, mp3s, etc through my television and stereo system.

The hardware setup has never been *perfect, as the bios screen and low-res screens (such as the boot-up screens) cause the television screen to roll, as if theres a vertical/horizontal sync problem. In Win2k, it was never an issue, the screen just rolled until explorer.exe kicked in, then the 800x600 16bit color would straighten the screen out.

Ive tried editing my XF86Config and XF86Config-4 files for the lowest possible settings, but this doesnt seem to help. Unfortunately, I cant start X, and I cant ever read the errors the shell throws because the screen is rolling! Then i unplug the computer, run it over to my regular monitor(which works fine was this hardware) and tweak some more.

I could use some help in determining if I can correct this problem with a good hori/vert sync setting, or if im barking up the wrong tree.
