Modifying *.iso with Mandrake 9.1
I am currently running Mandrake 9.1. I am TA'ing a class, and want to give the members of my class the ability to plot their data using open source programs. So, I downloaded "The Open CD" since it has a nice front end, and also downloaded Gnuplot and a few other open source mathmatical programs.
Now, I want to stick the programs on the .iso of "The Open CD." So, I first try opening the .iso with the various GUI programs. Arson, eCombust, x-CD-Roast, and K3b either create some kind of extended CPU hogging or simply don't open it. After rebooting, I figure I can mount the .iso as a file system and modify the files that way. I know it works somehow, but I have yet to find the correct mounting options. I've looked at the manpage and various How-to's, but I can't seem to get it right.
So, has anyone done this? Note that my versions of CD burning software are not updated, but this doesn't sound like some major sort of problem. After all, *.iso's have been around a while.
Thanks

you'll need to mount the iso and copy the contents to a directory before you modify anything...
Code:
mount -o loop example.iso /mnt/cdrom
cp -vR /mnt/cdrom/* ~/workspace
when you're done modifying, you can then create a new iso image...

I kind of have the same type of question. I have the new version of Mandrake 10.1. However I would like to place all the cd's (5) on one DVD disk, and make it bootable. (and if possible include any updates that are availiable) I have read a how-to on this subject, but I can't find the webpage.
If you could give me a little hand on this it would be appreciated.
Thanks
