Mnadrake 10.1 install problem-"no valid device"

I have a second computer with a 633mhz celeron, 10gb HD, 128mb RAM, 32mb radeon pci vieo card. I reformatted the hard drive (was formally running win 2000 pro) and wanted to try out Mandrake. After I accept the agreement in the installer it takes a minute and then I get an error saying: "no valid device to create filesystems." I even tried putting win 2000 back on in a small partition and it worked.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

I tried fiddlin with the hard drive's jumpers. I put in the install cd and now after i accept the agreement the screen says "found parport_pc, imm, ppa, interfaces, do you have another one?" if I choose no that same error message above comes back "no valid filesystems", if I click yes I get a list of drivers that I have no clue what to do with.

any advice?
