MDK10.1 Install hangs.

Just tried to install MDK 10.1, accepted the legal stuff then it will hang at

"installing drivers for disk/ide|scsi|hardware_raid|firewire card nVidia Corp.|".

I have tried three times and get the same thing.

I have run into this sort of problem myself and it is sometimes caused by running an older OS on newer hardware, so my suggestion is to try another newer OS, particularly one for 64 bit HW like Suse

hope this helps

Raid can be tricky at times. Like he said, try a newer distro. The reason is the kernal that is used durring install (and whitch you have little control over) prolly doesn't jibe with the raid controller.

Kernal 2.6.11 (current) has much better raid capabilitys than the old 2.6.8(?) that 10.1 uses.
Current 2.4.xx (forget right now) is also supposed to be quite good in that regard.

I don't use raid,as a matter of fact I think it is turned off in my bios. Is there any way to install the distro I have and then download a newer kernel for it? Which of these three architectures can I use x86_64,i586 or amd64 and which one is the 64 bit architecture?

for 64 bit computing you'll need a 64 bit OS
there fore use the amd64 or x86_64
if that is what the OS says
the i586 is 32 bit
