Re enabling/disabling auto login:

Go to K > Configuration > KDE > System > Login Manager.

Click the Convenience tab.

Go for it.

Also, to add/remove root to/from the login dialogue, in the Login Manager click the Users tab. Hide/show users and do other neat things.

I have been having the same problem. I changed windows managers to fix it (so far). I opened the mandrake control center and then went to the hardware tab and open Display Manager Chooser. i changed mine from MdkKDM to just the KDM display manager. That worked for me.

Re: MDK 9.1 KDE logout problem

I've got 9.1 installed on three different machines and all have this problem.

I use the KDE desktop and sometimes when I select '"Logout" I get the standard dialog box where I can choose to "Log in as a different user", "Turn off computer" or "Restart Computer".
Most of the time however, I get a dialog which is just a yes/no log out box.
I had the same problem when I enabled autologin in the Mandrake Control Center. Doing logout and login again, then I had the restart and turn off options.

I solved it disabling autologin in the Mandrake Control Center and enabling it in the KDE Control Center ( System-> Login Manager -> convenience).
