I had a few x-server crashes with the 2 cd cooker. Also, there seemed to be a memory leak somewhere, as after a few days the swap started to be tight. Since I have been using the v10 beta 1 I have not had any x-server failures and memory usage is more or less flat.
I had one problem where the video would not wake up. I went to another machine and sshed in and everything looked ok-killed the screen saver. I went back to the computer and everything was fine. This has not happened again, who knows what was up.
Also, the usb devices work differently. In the 2CDcooker, the device folder would just appear on the desktop when you plugged it in, this eems to be off in the beta. You just have to mount it by hand, but it would be nice to see the automated function back. I seem to remember that once the folder was on the desktop, it was impossible for the user to remove it, maybe they have turned off the automounting until this is worked out.
I used to use aviplay a bit in the 2CD cooker release, but it does not seem to work in v10 beta 1. I installed it from the plf source. It never finds the win32-codecs.
