Using cooker to update

instead of making a new post I'll just change this one:

I always hear people to update things with cooker, and so I want to do that to update KDE 3.3 since THAC's RPMs aren't working for me. Do I just set up a cooker mirror for URPMI or is there more involved than that?

Yes. The download version has the packages current to that version. If you buy Mandrake it is unlikely that you will have newer versions of the download packages. Usually you get some support, the ability to join the Mandrake Club and some propietary packages (like Nvidia drivers). And the warm feeling that you've just donated to the community.

If you want KDE 3.3, you'll have to download it - via Urpmi and Mandrake Cooker.

I keep hearing about this "cooker" you speak of, but I don't know where to begin using it. I assume it's a media update list for URPMI, so where can I find the details on how to use it?

Also, if I update kde 3.2 to 3.3, do I need to be running an alternate graphical engins (or none at all) while I am installing?
