Mdk 10.0 won't boot, stops at NET: Registered protocol family 2

i finally got mandrake 10 installed, but it won't boot properly...

after lilo the boot process starts normally, but only gets to this part:
Code:
input: AT Translated Set 2 keyboard on isa0060/serio0
md: md driver 0.90.0 MAX_MD_DEVS=256, MD_SB_DISKS=27
ELSA: Probing bus 0 at eisa0
NET: Registered protocol family 2
_
then it just stops.

it doesn't freeze completely... the cursor is still blinking. and when i press ctrl-alt-del, it says something like "md: all md devices shutting down" and the computer reboots.
but no matter how long i wait, it doesn't move past that "NET: ... " line.

also, i can get into mandrake if i start linux in LILO using "failsafe" and then type "exit" in the console. but why does it stop at that line? can somebody help me fix this, please?

I have a similar problem... However, this happens to me when I'm trying to install Mandrake 10. I pop in the CD, hit enter, and wait... All seems to go smoothly until "NET: Registered protocol family 2". The cursor underneath that line blinks a few times and then becomes solid. I've waited for two hours, with nothing happening. Could someone help me/us?

EDIT: For anyone woh might arrive here with a problem like mine, I solved m y problem by hitting F1 at the first screen and entering "linux hda=nodma noapic". the "hda=nodma" didn't do anything for me, but it might for you.
