ok when i got into madrake about version 10 i decide di liked kde better, so i rmeoved parts of gnome i didnt want and by accident it removed some of the menu systems that allow you to easily do things like make internet connections , there for ei need to do them manually
i need to know which files to modify form a cable modem account to a PPPoE adsl account
hope hell is more understandable
now i have a speedstream 6620 modem/router....
mandrake 10.1 powerpack
and it ran and was setup originally on cable previously
if someone could tell me what files/progs i need to run in order to make it work id appreciate it.
If i can't i will lose the data on it in favor of use fo the computer and go with windows XP PRo SP2

not sure about GNOME, but you can run as root from command window run the command

drakconf

then go to Network and Internet.

cant find that now

seems what i removed kinda messed that up
i know stupid is as stupid does,
but drakconf is not there
and neithe rare those nice menus that have all the configs,
basically its a mandrake box without gnome now
and yah i tried to reinstall it but that never worked and to give you an idea.
Ive installed hundreds a pps before with no issues and know my way about
i had linux on htis box and i should have kept it ...
could have imaged over the parts missing by using a direct bridge serially.
was convient to have all XP machines on network as thy others locally here had htem, and the boxes i owned were configed with cable in mind.
unfortuanetly i really have to do a manual internet connection for mandrake linux
having not done one in 12 months as i never had ANY ... probs. LOL had the os online 9 months straight as a webserver game server etc...

i need ot be able to connect to my modem which also acts as a dchp server(aka a adsl modem)
like xp it needs to be able to get the ip address from the dchp server (in this case the speadstream 6620 modem/router)
i know its ip addy is 192.168.2.1
my xps internal ip addy is .10 and im told it gives out from 10-99 for internal ips
what files would i need ot modify to do this?
Thanks for your patience, im a real crappy writer....
