Mandy won't boot anymore :(

Well, I went into lilo configuration and removed the "acpi=ht" because I was getting lock ups a LOT...
So now I boot, and don't even get a lilo screen it just gets to a message that could not mount root and kernel panic no init found.
Any ideas? help pls?
Of course putting back the "acpi=ht" won't do anything.

Insert CD1

Hit F1 when it boots to the first screen.

Type 'rescue' at the prompt, and hit enter.

Have it reinstall lilo.

BTW, when you removed that you ENABLED ACPI.

...bad move.

Already tried reinstalling lilo and I get the same thing. I had to choose restore windows boot loader, so I'm currently in windows xp without access to linux. I thought the option noacpi which I had the in the config line helped, but seems it won't.
Any other idea?

Yes, but you won't like them.

Either reinstall Mandrake with the 'update' option, or chroot into Mandrake from a rescue CD and fix lilo.

If you do the latter...don't forget to run 'lilo -v' when you are done.

Either Knoppix or PClinuxOS make excellent rescue CDs.

I have Knoppix and Mandrake Move just in case. But I'll try to go and readd the lines I deleted and run lilo -v and see if it helps. I'll post the results.

Well... It seems like something weird is going on with my system. I'm gonna download Mandrake 10 and install it to see how well it goes. I'll just backup up my files which thankfully are few and delete the whole linux installation.
BTW, I hope that mandrake 10 doesn't lock up like 9.2 does, because why run linux if it locks more than win xp.
