Unhappy mandrivia 10.1 and MPI 1.4

Hello there. This is my first install of this system. If I dont enable MPI 1.4 in BIOS on my MSI KT3 Ultra ARU mainboard, linux wont boot at all. If I have it enabled the computer becomes unstable and crash. Does not linux support PIC?

This can be a big set back for me and running linux. No info on topic in my fresh new linux bible either.

Thanks for any help.

Forgot specs;

MSI KT3 Ultra ARU
AMD K7 XP 2600
768 MB RAM
ATi radeon 9700 pro
Audiogy 2

One more question; does there exist a filebrowser that looks like windows explorer? I need directory three at left and list of files at right. It would also be nice to have full file path somewhere. windows explorer is close to perfect for my needs, so if something looks like it please tell
