Mandriva reboots when using graphical programs

Whenever I try to use something which im guessing uses openGL, the computer completely restarts instantly. For example, ut2004. I start the game, and its a 50/50 chance whether it will work or not. Before the last reinstall of mandriva, it was more of an 80% chance it will work.

The same happens with Point2Play (GUI for cedega) and any games installed through it.

Its very frustrating to recommend Mandriva 2005 to people, only to get shot down when the computer restarts, leaving me out of a lan game, for example. Or when trying to get something to work, only to have the pc restart as if time is meaningless.

Im guessing its a problem with openGL, but I cannot be certain. Still pretty much new to Linux - been using it since the end of May.

Would hate to have to go back to windows for anything - would rather resort to console gaming, if mandriva decides to keep crashing everytime something half painful is used on the graphics card.

Im also assuming this is a mandriva problem, as ive seen various complaints about mandriva's stability with nvidia drivers.

How can I fix this problem?

One of the first threads on this forum is about nvidia drivers on Mandriva, why donīt you read it? It could be a problem in your nvidia driver...

Also, you can always put /home on a separete partition and reinstall Mandrake formating / :p

I followed the installation instructions exact - even reinstalled mandriva, but got even worse problems.

Ive moved to fedora core 4 - havent had any stability issues at all, and cedega actually seems to work this time round.
