I am new to Mandriva One so please excuse the simplicity of these questions.

I chose Mandriva One because I could select a KDE only release.

I wanted a KDE only version so I could set up the KDE Kiosk package because which I plan to set up a public Internet PC and want to lock it down. And also to make sure no one could start the PC choosing an alternate desktop (e.g. GNOME).

So here's my questions:

1. Is Mandriva One a "full" Mandriva 2007 release or a sub-set? I ask this because Mandriva is supposed to have a firewall called Shorewall and I can't find it after I installed Mandriva One on my hard drive.

2. If I want to install 3rd party software like KDE Kiosk and I go to a site like rpmfind.net what version RPM do I download? I586? My Mandriva "lives" on an old Dell with a 1.6 gz Pentium IV.

3. Is there a "free" virus-checker for Mandriva that I can download?

Mandriva One is a subset of Mandriva 2007. You pick and choose whether you want KDE, GNOME and various languages. The whole Mandriva 2007 release would never fit on a live cd so many packages are missing from the live cd.

If you need extra Mandriva apps, then go to easyurpmi and setup the main, contrib, plf and updates repos for Mandriva 2007. After that use urpmi or the gui software package manager to install and remove software as well as update your software repos.

You can use clamav or avg for Linux. If you are not sharing files with Windows users, then there is no point in installing antivirus software on Linux.
