Mandriva One Broadband Internet Connection Problem
Can anyone help? I can't understand when running Mandriva One from the Live CD my PC is able to connect to my Broadband automatically, but when I install Mandriva One to the Hard Disk I cannot connect to my Broadband connection. I have been through the settings in Mandriva after the installation but I just can't work it out??? PLEASE HELP ME

How are you connecting? Ethernet?
|
I'm connecting straight from the Broadband line into the back of the PC. I have two Ethernet connections on the back of my PC and if I remember correctly, they are listed as Eth0 and Eth1 on Mandriva One

Why would it connect straight away without setting it up? How do I get around this issue?

I've yet to give a live cd a trial so I don't know how they configure an internet connection. You say

#drakconnect Next on the left side pannel click on network and internet. On the right you will left with some options. Click on "Set up a new network interface". There you configure your system. Make it sure to have a PPPoE connection. Enjoy the web......... |
I happen to remember reading in a review somewhere that the ppp was broken in the LiveCD, which prevented drakconnect from configuring any sort of dial-up connection including ADSL. Everything work after installation.

I see a great deal of conjecture based on too little information in this thread. If MDV One connects when run from the CD, but not from the HD installation, the installation on the HD is different than what is configured when the CD boots.
You can check the configuration when running from the CD in MCC, note it, then compare to configuration when run from HD. If you have a Cable Broadband connection (your computer is connected directly to a cable-modem provided by a Cable Internet service), you should configure an ethernet connection on MCC. There is a Cable configuration item, but I have never used it (I connect to my cable modem through a router). If you have an ADSL Broadband connection (your computer is connected directly to an ADSL modem provided by an ADSL / telephone service) you should configure a DSL connection (uses PPPoE). Both types of connection are supported in MCC > Network & Internet > Set up a new Network Interface (LAN, ISDN, ADSL, ...). If this information is not helpful, please post back with more complete information about your issue. You have informed us that you connect directly from the Broadband line into the back of the PC, but that is not very helpful. Does the other end of the Broadband line connect to a modem device? If so, is it ADSL or Cable? If the Broadband line does not connect to a modem device, what does it connect to? A router? There are also other types of Broadband Internet service, such as Satellite and ISDN. If we know which type of service you are connecting to, we will be better able to help. |
yes I have just encountered exactly the same problem after installing mandriva one - I have an ethernet connection to an adsl modem - it connections fine using the CD but so far won't connect from the installation - settings are the same. However I have yet to update so we shall see...
