Hello. What do you mean? I am confused. Mandriva "one" is not a distro. Do you mean Mandriva 2006 ---- the first Mandriva production? If so, go to distrowatch.com and look at the software listed as included as part of Mandriva 2006.
Or do you mean "what is on disc one"?
Have you installed Mandriva? If so, have you set up your urpmi sources?
Mandriva-One-Americas-Western-Europe-2006-0.3-CD.iso
It's a Mandriva livecd which can be installed to hard drive. After I added some channels to the smart package manager, it has a gazillion packages available, like most any distro these days.
That's cleared that up for me then MandrivaOne *is* a distro ------ thanks.Sorry Kalleanka -- I misinterpreted your question. I am curious though...have you tried this live CD or are you just investigating its contents?
Ok I thoght it was a normal distro with option to run it live. And it asked me to partition the harddisk as with 2006 so now i need to reinstall 2006. Well maybe I try something else like feodora 5.
But I think its enoying not to have a complett list of the packages i the iso.
I need programs lik geda and I would choose a distro that got it as standard but how do I know which distro got it? This is to save time.
Mandriva One is a full distro that you can install the hard disk. If you need extra software, add the main, contrib and updates repos for Mandriva 2006. Since Mandriva One is a live cd, you can't expect the entire Mandriva distro to fit on one live cd.
My misstake. I did not realise that a 12G partiotion was needed so I installed it on a 5.8G and ofcourse it did not work. So after repartioning I got it all up and running. I Did not get the choises of what to instal as in 2006. On the brigth side is kdevlop and kicad(even if it crached ones after five minuits). Also it seams like thy got rid of some kde problems I hade with 20006. Loks nice.
According to this site: distrowatch.com/?newsid=03299#0 Mandriva One is both a live CD and a complete distro for installing on your computer on one DVD.
But I still don't know what Mandriva 2006 Free Edition is! (Mine doesn't boot, by the way.)
Can anyone enlighten me?
Keith
PS: Because I've not made three posts, I couldn't put a link to the URL ---but I'm sure you get the idea!

Kalleanka,
>>I did not realise that a 12G partiotion was needed
This value was quoted in other thread. This is very strange
12 Gb out of 1 CD... seems unlikely
A linux mag (linux+dvd) says it takes 3Gb
>> I installed it on a 5.8G and ofcourse it did not work
Could have been something else, wrong partition size for example
kaw
What equipment have you got?
What are the messages?
What did yout try?
Is this Mandy one you are trying to install?
Mandriva 2006 is the full operating system + many many packages,
ready to install on a PC (1 dvd or 3 cds).
It is not a live CD. Mandriva one is just 1 cd, so it contains less
package
I've had Mandriva One installed on a laptop for a while, but cannot get WPA working with it...
I am using ndiswrapper and wpa_supplicant, but the latest version I could find for Mandriva was older, like version 2. I found the source for the newer wpa_supplicant but can't figure out how to "make" it with Mandriva One.
Most of the Live CD's are pre-packaged versions of distros, boiled down and compressed to fit on a single CD (or for the newer ones, a single DVD.)
Compression is used to fit about 2GB of material on one CD. Trade-offs are made however, to get everything to run from a CD and RAMDisk, and Knoppix LiveCD (for instance) warns against installing it to the hard disk because things will just cease to work.
Mandriva One appears to me to be the first LiveCD that says it is expressly to run from CD -or- to be installed to the hard disk with support for either configuration.

FYI (to anybody helping with mandriva one, for this iso:
I tried Mandriva-One-Americas-Western-Europe-2006-0.3-CD.iso
1) The F1 or F2 screen does not list any boot option list
2) Install option (via icone on desktop) is only available once the distro
is up and running
3) Screen resolution defaulted to safe 800x600 with panning,
a worst guess than anything I tried before (I know a livecd effect probably)
BTW, I have no idea if this is the beta version (possibly is)
Keep seeing this 12 Gb suggestion / requirement,
one of the magazine I have says 3 Gb minimum (not 12). Anyway,
both sizes may be wrong.
