Mandriva Graphical Login Issues

I just got mandriva 2006 installed, but I'm having a little problem.

I can boot into runlevel 3 just fine. Then do startx and kde loads. Everything is fine if I do this.

But if I set the runlevel to 5, my screen goes all funky. The screen starts to slowly flash about 3 different images, one at a time. The images are a black screen, a distorted image, and the background image that kde uses when loading. These 3 images just keep flashing 1 at a time till I restart the computer.

I'm assuming that this is something simple and stupid since everything works fine when I use startx.

Thanks

Do you have any other services starting up at init 5 before it begins loading the X-server? Secondly, what graphics and X-server are you using?

Was this a fresh install or an upgrade, and did you check the configuration list at the end of the install?
