Mandriva Frozen

I downloaded mandriva 2011 64. Verified md5 checksum, burned disk several times at a slow speed.

It won't install or even start the live dvd.

It gets up to the point where I click run live dvd, then the circular thing goes round and round for ages, and nothing happens.

I removed all devices connected to pc, no luck.

All I have that could be causing a problem is an ati 7970 display card and xonar essence stx sound card connected.

Is there something I can type before clicking run live cd to get it to work?

Thanks in advance

When you first boot the disc, look for some kernel options, usually at the bottom of the screen. Try choosing the video mode. I forget which options.

If that doesn't work, download and try Mageia 2, it's a fork of Mandriva. Mageia 3 is scheduled for release in March, so you may try the Beta.

Just some thoughts!

Hi, not too much said about your system, try this command on the kernel cammand line

At grub boot screen press F2

Now press esc, to clear the drop down menu. You should now be able to type on the kernel boot cli(in the grub gui)

try, nomsi. Kerenl commands on this line are "space separated" , nokmsboot may also help.

backspace over the "splash quiet" so you can see the text as the kernel loads, may be some tips there for you....

See how you go.

Regards Glenn
