mandriva and me


hi every body
i was using slackware for a long time
but now i want to try anther distribution
i think mandriva will be my next one
i had tried mandrake 8.2 and 10.1 from a long time but i didn't like it
i want now to see the new version of mandriva
but...........
the problem with my slack is slow on my machine
my machine is not new
(650 mhz processor and 450 mb ram)
and i need the newest packages in the new distribution
can mandriva satisfy me needs???!!!!!

Why don't you stick to a one thread?

And you could change the Debian lines from this thread.

What's slow on Slackware and what new packages you need that aren't available on Slackware? What's the problem in switching? I highly doubt that distro switching would offer you any speed increase.

I think both KDE and Gnome would run on your computer but wouldn't be lightning fast on it.

Hi Debian is good and can work for you its software uses little RAM
i use debian and mandriva
my debain has 515mb RAM and it quite fast
my mandriva 2008 use 700RAM and it fast as well
so pick the one you want
