mandriva 2008.1 + intel d945gcpe + low volume

Hello,

I have installed mandriva 2008.1 on Intel D945gcpe Mb.

I have very low volume .

What can do to increase the volume ?

I using KDE and right klicking kmix gives me
the following option.

3 tabs - output - input - switches

In the Output tab there is :

Master, PCM . Front, Front Mic, surround, Line , Mic.

In the input tab - there is only capture option.

In the switches tab there is only headphones

Thanks

well what happens in the output tab?

we need minimum of bright green lights (not muted) on master pcm and pcspeaker.
and in those slide the slider up please.

2) also you can have a look at kde info center at sound and kde control center but you have sound so I won't go into any area if its just a mixer volume issue

You did not reply to post #2 so assume you failed at that point so only if fail do this

intel site says you are using Realtek ALC662 four Channel Audio (2 + 2)

2) http://linux.derkeiler.com/Mailing-L.../msg01384.html

ALC662
3stack-dig 3-stack (2-channel) with SPDIF
3stack-6ch 3-stack (6-channel)
3stack-6ch-dig 3-stack (6-channel) with SPDIF
6stack-dig 6-stack with SPDIF
lenovo-101e Lenovo laptop
auto auto-config reading BIOS (default)

3) Edit with root powers /etc/modprobe.conf and added the following line:
options snd-had-intel model=3stack-dig

I have the same card and the same problem. The snd-hda-intel module included with Arch (the distro I use) couldn't get any sound out of the card. I finally downloaded the latest alsa-drivers package from the alsa site (which are the exact same version number and rc number as the arch ones, go figture), compiled them myself and installed them (which just overwrote the modules included with my kernel). Now I get sound out of the card (after I ran alsaconf), however I have the same faders as varun, and none of them seem to work except master, PCM and front. Master and PCM behave like they're supposed to as far as I can tell, but Front controlls the volume coming out of my rear panel output jack, none of the other faders/switches appear to do anything at all and I have no recording capability. model=3stack-dig just added an equally useless CD fader under the output section.

My card is a Realtek ALC662 integrated into an mcp61 nForce chipset on an Asus X-Series motherboard (M2N-MX SE Plus)
Any Help would be appreciated as I'd really like to use this card to do some digital recording. Thanks!

well I still do not have your hardware but maybe its bios or os irq related.

1) try configging your bios to use different interrupts and check to see if you are using acpi irq or pic irq system. Read your motherboard manual on how to get to change this...on mine I needed advanced settings by going into bios and pressing control + F1

2) try a kernel parameter on your grub or lilo to change your interrupts.
(from kernel-paremeters.txt) (from 2.6.25 yours may differ)

eg
pci=bios

pci=biosirq

pci=routeirq

acpi=noirq (needs acpi kernel or module for acpi)

3) but before you do so run in root mode
cat /proc/interrupts

if you have sharing then 1 and 2 may be options but if you already use acpi rather than pic bios setting....and you have no shared interrupts I do not think I can focus on bios.

note that 1 and 2 are independent...so you must (if you want to try) do only one change at a time and read your /var/log/syslog and if you have kde ...kde info center for irqs or run cat /proc/interrupts and of course test for sound
