Mandriva 2005 - artsd how to disable
#Problem maybe solved with ' killall artsd ' - please refer to thread 'artsd crashing'
any comments on my other questions would be much appreciated
#Mandriva 2005 - ALSA version 1:0:8
Can anyone tell me how to disable artsd. I suspect it is causing a problem with my ALSA setup. I have disabled artsd via the ' process table ' which removes the problem, but I then lose all sound. I have also tried several other ways but they don't help either.
Somehow artsd is also bringing down my internet connection. This is random, it could be in a few minutes after booting or could go for a day or two before dropping out.
I have read in a passed thread that the ALSA version 1:0:8 has a glitch in it so wonder if anyone has any knowledge of this.
If I upgrade to ALSA 1:0:9 ( the latest version ) what would be the best way to go about this. Most of the howto's I have read seem a bit confusing to me. Would it be best to install the lib's etc first, or after installing ALSA
Thanks for looking
