I use it all the time, gtkpod, don't install software that way unless it is not available as an rpm.
Simply open command line session and type "su" to become root, give root password as asked, then type " urpmi gtkpod" don't use the quotation marks, just the commands within. This will install gtkpod and its dependancies the easy "Mandriva" way. If it does not find gtkpod to install, simply means you have not set up your sources for software, if that is the case go here first:
